Who’s Up, Who’s Down

players & clubs · trend vs 2025-26
How this is measured

Players: goals per 90 minutes, and assists per 90 minutes, in 2026-27 versus the full 2025-26 season, for players with at least 40 minutes per club match this season and 450+ minutes last season. Clubs: points per match in 2026-27 versus the full 2025-26 season, from 4 matches. A club or player outside the top flight last season carries no trend. Refreshed every night.

Pace = points per match × 38. PPG trend = this season's points per match minus last season's full-season figure; it appears once a club has played 4 matches, and reads — until then. Form = last five, oldest to newest. Ordered by points, then goal difference, then goals for; the rank column keeps that order under any sort. Tie-break note: Table order is points, goal difference, goals for. La Liga officially breaks ties on head-to-head records first, so an official table can differ where clubs are level on points.

The Clubs

six seasons · points per match

Trend lines: points per match, 2021-22 → 2026-27, from the club's own results. Green = rising against last season · Red = falling · Gold = even (±0.05) · Grey = no trend yet (fewer than 4 matches this season). A gap in the line is a season outside the top flight.

How this is measured

The top 20 for the chosen measure, from the same numbers as the Every Player board; every player with a minute is on that board. Highest first ranks by the measure itself; trending up and trending down rank by that measure's per-90 rate this season against his full 2025-26 season, for players with 450+ minutes last season and 40+ minutes per club match this season — the floor of section 01. Per-90 rates and match ratings rank only players with 284+ minutes this season. Tap a row for the player's page.

What This Is

A project to build a fun possible football stats site — stats the way fans want them: interactive, packed with visuals, and filled with context so that the numbers make sense.

It has a dashboard for every club in La Liga: points pace against the club's own recent seasons, goals for and against, shots and corners where the data exists, home and away splits, the match log — and the league's goals-per-match trend since 1928-29. Every player with a minute on the pitch is here too, sortable by who is trending up and who is trending down against last season. And a compare page that puts two La Liga careers on one chart, legends included, raw or era-adjusted. Who is rising this year? Who is dropping? Is the league scoring more than it did a decade ago? Find the answers here.

An independent project — not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by LaLiga or any club. All stats are drawn from public football datasets, credited on the methodology page.

It's built and maintained by Alex Panetta, a 28-year journalist earning a master's in AI Management during a career sabbatical and building apps as a hobby and for school projects — the Trend Line for hockey, this site's older sibling; Wandering Well, a hidden-gems travel site and app; and the Daily AI Digest, a daily briefing on AI for non-technical professionals. The Numbers

Everything is fetched from public datasets by an automated pipeline — no estimates, no hand-entered stats. Where a source lacks a field, the page says so instead of filling it in. The state-of-the-club paragraphs are generated from fixed rules applied to the data, so the words can never outrun the numbers. Methodology →
